R. H. Malden (1879ā1951), richard Henry Malden led a distinguished ecclesiastical career, serving as Vicar of Headingley, Leeds, and later as Dean of Wells Cathedral until his death. But he's remembered today primarily for his connection to M.R. James, whom he knew for more than thirty years and greatly admired. Malden's only collection of supernatural fiction, Nine Ghosts, was written as a tribute to his friend's memory, but time has shown that Malden was far more than a mere imitator.
