Founded by August Derleth and Donald Wandrei; one of the most important publishers of weird fiction and supernatural literature.
Arkham House was founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin, in 1939 to bring H. P. Lovecraft's fiction into durable hardcover form after his death.
Its list became a foundation stone for modern weird-fiction collecting, publishing Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Donald Wandrei, August Derleth, Ray Bradbury, and many others.
The press's house mark was designed by Frank Utpatel and is one of the recognizable colophons of twentieth-century weird publishing.
The Arkham House database is currently under development and will be available soon.
We are working to compile a useful catalog of Arkham House publications, including editions, publication details, and collector-oriented notes where available.
