Lady Stanhope's Manuscript and Other Supernatural Tales

About

Lady Stanhope's Manuscript and Other Supernatural Tales, barbara Roden, along with her husband Christopher, founded Ash-Tree Press in 1994, and this chapbook was their first publication. Roden had already established herself as a knowledgeable editor and scholar of supernatural fiction, and this collection served as both a statement of intent and a celebration of the Christmas ghost story tradition that the press would continue to honor throughout its existence.

The volume collects five supernatural tales by different authors, each selected by Roden to showcase the kind of work Ash-Tree Press would champion. The stories range from Katherine Haynes's "The Little Ghost" to Dale J. Nelson's "Lady Stanhope's Manuscript," offering readers a diverse sampling of modern supernatural fiction. The collection was issued in December 1994 as a traditional Christmas ghost story volume, continuing a long-standing British publishing tradition.
