William Hope Hodgson (15 November 1877 – 19 April 1918) was an English author. He produced a large body of work, consisting of essays, short fiction, and novels, spanning several overlapping genres including horror, fantastic fiction, and science fiction. Hodgson used his experiences at sea to lend authentic detail to his short horror stories, many of which are set on the ocean, including his series of linked tales forming the "Sargasso Sea Stories".
The Ghost Pirates, william Hope Hodgson is the author of The Ghost Pirates.
The Ghost Pirates was first published in 1909, as part of a series including The Boats of the ”Glen Carrig“ and The House on the Borderland, and over the years has been overshadowed by the latter novel, as well as the epic The Night Land. However, as A. F. Kidd argues in her introduction, The Ghost Pirates is a little masterpiece: a ”small and almost perfectly formed gem“ written by an author who, at his best, ”can make your flesh creep like a master“.
