Thomas Tryon (1926-1991) was an American author best known for several science fiction, horror and mystery novels. Is best-known work is The Other (1971), about a boy whose evil twin brother may or may not be responsible for a series of deaths in a small rural community in the 1930s. The novel was adapted as a film the following year. Arvest Home (1973) was about the dark pagan rituals being practiced in a small New England town. Unjustly out of print for over 20 years, The Other is one of horror's most well-respected and lyrically written novels, penned by former actor Thomas Tryon Incredibly, The Other was Tryon's first novel, published in 1971, and was both incredibly brilliant with a broad, mass appeal, selling over one million copies in paperback his new edition features a new introduction by Ramsey Campbell which examines The Other's influence as well as a suite of original illustrations by Harry O Morris, both in color and black and white.
