Rex Miller (1939-2004) wrote novels detailing the investigations of Jack Eichord, a fictional homicide detective who specialized in tracking down serial killers. For this novel Miller was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel. Miller was also a popular disc jockey in the 1960s, and was considered an expert in the field of juvenile-related collectibles, particularly old time radio premiums. Slob, the first novel of the series, introduced Daniel Bunkowski, a quarter-ton killing-machine serial murderer. Other books in the series include Frenzy, Slice, and Savant.
The first hardcover edition of the classic of crime and horror fiction, first published in 1988 Slob was a momentous book in the field, Rex Miller's story of the quarter-ton serial killer Chaingang, and it inspired a couple sequels ay Garton has supplied the introduction, Harry O.
